Sasha Buzzetta is drawn to clay sculpture because it anchors her to the earth and transports her to another world. As a child, she would pull fresh clay out of her back yard creek to mold her own creations. With this medium she is immediately grounded and transformed to a simpler creature. Her process is entirely intuitive, using clay to interpret her observations, dreams and to explore the frailty of our humanity. The work begins with a seed of an idea based on mythology, mysticism, an emotion, from the collective unconscious, or her observations of daily life to convey her own personal narrative. Each piece is a hand built, sculptural, low fired clay form.
